The 8th Screenwriting Research Network (SRN) International Conference Call for Papers Screenwriting: Text and Performance<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 8th Screenwriting Research Network (SRN) International Conference will take place at the University of London, UK on Thursday 10th to Saturday 12th September 2015.<\/strong> It is organised by a committee from different institutions grouped around the London Screenwriting Research Seminar – including the University of Bangor, the University of East London, The University of Greenwich and Royal Holloway, University of London.<\/p>\n

The key theme of this year\u2019s conference is Screenwriting: Text and Performance.<\/strong> We invite discussion about screenwriting as process and practice, and how it engages with and can be understood in relation to text and performance across a wide field of media and practices, including film, television, games, online, transmedia and other digital platforms.
\nWe are particularly interested in abstracts for presentations on the following topics:
\nInterpreting screenplays \u2013 how do producers, directors, actors work with screenplays?
\nHow screenplays affect and invoke performance?
\nWhat can performance reveal about writing screenplays or screenplay structure?
\nScreenwriting and literature
\nScreenplays and screenwriting by authors best known in another field
\nCase studies on individual writers or texts<\/p>\n

We would also like to invite abstracts for presentations on (but not limited to) the following topics:
\nNational traditions of screenwriting and storytelling
\nDifferent screenwriting practices and formats
\nHistorical perspectives on screenwriting and screenplays
\nScreenwriting, the screenplay and different production structures
\nScreenwriting and adaptation
\nPractice based research in screenwriting
\nScreenwriting for television, games and animation
\nScreenwriting for new media forms, online, transmedia etc.<\/p>\n

Please send abstracts (250-300 words) as a word or pdf document, with the email subject heading \u201cSRN Conference abstract\u201d to: srnconflondon2015@gmail.com<\/p>\n

Abstracts may be submitted until March 2nd 2015. Earlier submissions are welcome. Remember to state your name, affiliation and contact information. Also include a brief statement (100 words) detailing your publications and\/or screenwriting practice. We aim to let you know by mid April 2015 whether your paper has been accepted. Keynote speakers will be announced early in 2015.<\/p>\n

Note to Readers<\/strong>: I have given presentations at the previous seven SRN conferences, which have been held in Leeds, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Brussels, Sydney, Madison, and Potsdam. Attendees in the past have come from five continents. If you have an interest in the burgeoning field of screenwriting studies, whether as a practitioner or scholar, this represents a rare opportunity to gather with colleagues from around the world.
